2019 Pride Banquet - August 4!
EXCITING NEWS! We have been approved to proceed with a Pride Banquet / Awards Ceremony to celebrate the 2019 season. While this banquet will look different than it has in the past, we are SO EXCITED to assemble the 2019 Pride and celebrate these students (and recent graduates)! This event will be held at the BAPAC and live streamed. Due to revised seating capacities in the PAC, Students ONLY will attend the event at the PAC while parents, families & friends will enjoy the banquet via a live streamed event in the comfort of your homes. The live stream is free and open to all. 2019 Pride members will attend the event at the PAC on Tuesday, August 4th beginning at 7:00pm. This will be a fun event to celebrate the 2019 season. More details to come regarding picking up student packets, the live stream, and much more….

A GREAT First Week of Pride Camp!
The 2020 Pride of Broken Arrow had a great first week of rehearsals! The Pride is certainly off to a great start and has already done a tremendous job overcoming adversity and bonding with each other as a close knit group! We are excited as a group to evolve our organization this season to present a contemporary and very entertaining version of the Pride of Broken Arrow for 2020!

NOTES:
  • - Broken Arrow HS is a closed campus. Members may not leave the campus during a meal break.
  • - Students and parents may not park in Loading Dock lanes for Faculty Parking lots (ie. lot west of the aux gym)
  • - NO Drop offs are permitted in the Loading Dock Lanes to the west of the Band Hall OR in the Faculty parking lot west of the Band Hall
  • - It is a very demanding time of year. The kids and staff are working very hard to achieve excellence. As parents, we can help in many ways. One important example is to arrive on time to pick up the kids. Kids and staff will appreciate your timeliness.
  • - All rehearsals are closed until notice is made for open rehearsals for the end of a stadium rehearsal session.
  • - Members should bring: sunscreen, hat, food for meal break, iced water jug, and all items needed for rehearsal
  • - Members are encouraged to bring “Pop Up Tents” to use as shade while at the Track Field

Band Booster Meeting on Tuesday, July 21 at 7:00pm
The next BA Band Booster Club Meeting will be held in the HS Stadium on Tuesday, July 21 at 7:00pm

Oklahoma Heat
Heat Stress Wow! It’s HOT!! Without fail, the Oklahoma summer heat WILL be upon us. The Pride staff would like to assure all parents of our commitment to the members physical well being. Due to the nature of activities like marching band and football practice, we are constantly exposed to the heat and it is important that we all take precautions:
  • Drink plenty of water or Gatorade/Powerade BEFORE REHEARSAL (avoid caffeinated beverages or “monster” drinks)
  • Eat a nutritional meal (particularly breakfast)Wear light & loose fitting, comfortable clothing
  • During water breaks at rehearsal drink more water/Gatorade...even if you’re not thirsty
  • Use sunscreen and keep your head covered
  • Get acclimated to the outdoors. Plan some outdoor activities, in moderation, to prepare yourself for the summer heat.

Parent & Student  Help Needed: Face Coverings / Social Distancing
As we continue our summer sessions and get closer to the start of the Pride Camp, we need help from everyone. When students are “on task” in rehearsal it is much easier for students to comply and staff to monitor the social distancing and face coverings for our students. However, we are meeting challenges in the time before and after our sessions / rehearsals with students maintaining a 6 foot social distance and wearing their face coverings. We ask all students to be more emphatic (and parents to reinforce with their children) how important this is for the Pride to continue our progress into the 2020 season. This is now the NEW NORM for the CULTURE of our Pride of Broken Arrow. All students must wear their face covering prior to beginning rehearsal and only remove a face covering to drink water (eat) or at the direction of a staff member. Students in their time prior to rehearsals will definitely want to socialize with their friends (this is totally understandable and encouraged), however, it must occur with 6 foot social distancing and face coverings. Thank you for your attention with this matter…. Go Pride 2020!

Pride Return to Rehearsal and Conditioning Plan

We are excited to have an approved plan that allows the Pride to begin a return to activities. Broken Arrow Public Schools has determined it is safe (as of June 1, 2020) to return to activities. In order to ensure the safety of all, the following procedure are now in place at our school facilities.
  • - ALL must wear masks to enter the facility or building (and remain on until activities begin)
  • - Students are to initially provide their own mask / face covering; though, the band may provide masks to students in the future
  • - ALL must check in each day before entering the facilities and compete a COVID-19 survey. Any ‘YES’ answers on the survey will prohibit entry and sent home for further evaluation. (See sample 'COVID-19 Daily Survey’ below)
  • - Locker / Changing Facilities are closed and off limits. Students are to arrive “dressed out” and are to leave the campus immediately following their activity
  • - Temperatures of ALL will be taken prior to any activity and logged daily. Temperatures of 100.4 or above will prohibit entry and sent home for further evaluation.
  • - On workout stations, no more than 3 students per piece of workout equipment
  • - ALL are maintain a distance of 6 feet apart from other groups, if possible
  • - ALL must sanitize / hand wash prior to entering the facility
  • - Students must provide their own water bottle (jug), and sharing with others isn’t permitted.

Physicals are required for Pride Participation
Physicals from SY19-20 are permitted for summer workouts. All students must complete a SY20-21 Physical prior to July 15. PHYSICALS MUST SUBMITTED USING THE ATTACHED 2 PAGE OSSAA FORM. ALL physical forms must be submitted to the Mrs. Good in the band office no later than July 15.

SAMPLE COVID-19 Daily Survey
