Great Rehearsal / Open Rehearsal / First game on ESPN!
The Pride had a great week of rehearsals and all of the members are working extremely hard! On Cut Time we will send out info for an upcoming open rehearsal for Family members to see a preview of the 2020 Pride of Broken Arrow. Additionally, our first game is coming up on Saturday, August 29 and this game will be nationally televised on ESPN!! While we are still awaiting a kick off time from ESPN, this will be a great opportunity for our students to be showcased on a national stage with our Tiger Football team. Look for more details for the ‘Game Day’ schedule and logistical details to be shared this week.

Parent & Student  Help Needed: Face Coverings / Social Distancing
As we continue our summer sessions and get closer to the start of the Pride Camp, we need help from everyone. When students are “on task” in rehearsal it is much easier for students to comply and staff to monitor the social distancing and face coverings for our students. However, we are meeting challenges in the time before and after our sessions / rehearsals with students maintaining a 6 foot social distance and wearing their face coverings. We ask all students to be more emphatic (and parents to reinforce with their children) how important this is for the Pride to continue our progress into the 2020 season. This is now the NEW NORM for the CULTURE of our Pride of Broken Arrow. All students must wear their face covering prior to beginning rehearsal and only remove a face covering to drink water (eat) or at the direction of a staff member. Students in their time prior to rehearsals will definitely want to socialize with their friends (this is totally understandable and encouraged), however, it must occur with 6 foot social distancing and face coverings. Thank you for your attention with this matter…. Go Pride 2020!

The season is off and running which means volunteer activities are moving into full swing. Listed below are just some of the ways our members are making a difference:

  • Uniforms - Concert attire sorted and stored; Tradition uniforms fitted (alterations have begun); Uniform room cleaned and organized
  • Nurses - temp checks at the beginning of practice, nurse care during outdoor rehearsal
  • VPs - Preparing memorabilia; handing out popsicles; planning for future meals
  • Fundraising - 1st clothing drop off; car raffle launched; (Every student required to sell 10 tickets) and future activities planned.
  • Concessions - Preparing stands for future games (less than 2 weeks away!)
Make sure you have found a place to contribute. If you’re not sure where you fit in, just drop us a text or email. We will be happy to help you get started. We are counting on everyone to work at least one home football game. Watch for sign-ups later this week.

A quick note regarding fundraising: This year’s expenses are lower than normal. In anticipation of a busy spring band program and a BIG Pride season next year, don’t miss out on this opportunity to get a head start.

On a business note, we have applied for the renewal of our sanction through Broken Arrow Public Schools. We have completed the supporting documentation including the required financial reports.
