Drums of Summer - DCI Show in Broken Arrow
The 2015 DCI Show hosted in Broken Arrow will be on Tuesday, July 21 at BA's Memorial Stadium. This year's event features: Blue Knights, Blue Stars, The Cadets, Colts, Crossmen, Jersey Surf, Mandarins, Oregron Crusaders and Pacific Crest. WOW!! What an amazing line up. NEW INFO for ALL PRIDE MEMBERS! All Pride members may receive free General Admission Access to the DCI Drums of Summer. This offer applies to all current 2015 members and can't be traded, upgraded or refunded from a previous purchase. We hope to see all of our Pride members at this amazing event at BA's Stadium on Tuesday, July 21.

Do you have your tickets yet?  Tickets will be available at the BA Stadium Ticket Booth beginning at 3:00pm.


Drums of Summer - We need YOUR Help!
Please help us promote the DCI Drums of Summer by “liking” and “sharing” any of the info on the BA Bands and/or Drums of Summer Facebook pages, Twitter, and Instagram. It would be very helpful if you could share that info to your network of friends every day between now and the day of the show next Tuesday.


Pride Camp Begins!
The full Pride of Broken Arrow Marching Band begins their camp on Thursday, July 23 at 1:00pm in the NEW HS Band Room. Please be sure to continue conditioning your body for the intense Broken Arrow weather and heat! Each Horn Line and Percussion member must wear a White T-Shirt, proper marching shoes, have a water cooler, sunscreen and a hat. NOTE: Broken Arrow HS is a closed campus. Members may not leave the campus during a meal break.
   Horn Line and Percussion Rehearsal:
      July 23 - Mandatory Pride Camp Begins at the High School

   Week 1 Camp Schedule (Note: if weather trends to be too hot, all 1:00-9:00 rehearsals MAY be moved to 2:00-10:00)
      Thurs, 7/23 - (1:00-9:00)
      Fri, 7/24 - (1:00-9:00)
      Sat, 7/25 - (10:00-5:00)

   Week 1 Meal Break Schedule (NOTE: BAHS is a closed campus.  Members may not leave the campus for meals)
      Thurs and Friday (5:00-6:00)
      Saturday (12:00-1:00)


Broken Arrow High School is a Closed Campus
As a reminder, BAHS is a closed campus. That would prevent students from leaving the campus during meal breaks. Members should plan accordingly to either bring their meal OR make arrangements to have their meals delivered to them at BAHS. However, during guard rehearsals that are "split" in the day(9:00-1:00 AND 5:00-9:00), guard members are ENCOURAGED to leave the HS campus during the 'middle of the day' to rest.


Oklahoma Heat
Heat Stress Wow! It’s HOT!! Without fail, the Oklahoma summer heat WILL be upon us. The Pride staff would like to assure all parents of our commitment to the members physical well being. Due to the nature of activities like marching band and football practice, we are constantly exposed to the heat and it is important that we all take precautions:

  • Drink Plenty of Water or Gatorade/Powerade BEFORE REHEARSAL (avoid caffeinated beverages or "monster" drinks)
  • Eat a nutritional meal (particularly breakfast)
  • Wear light & loose fitting, comfortable clothing
  • During water breaks at rehearsal drink more water/Gatorade...even if you're not thirsty
  • Use sunscreen and keep your head covered
  • Get acclimated to the outdoors.  Plan some outdoor activities, in moderation, to prepare yourself for the summer heat.

We need more popsicles.  Please send with your kids this week when camp begins.

Pride Letter Jackets - If you are ordering a Pride Jacket, Yvonne’s Monogram needs a $50 deposit ASAP! Yvonne’s Monogram is located at 7844 South Elm Place, Broken Arrow, OK 74011 (This is approximately 131st and Elm.) 918-451-1902.


OPERATIONS
Meetings are Tuesday - Thursday @ 6:00pm at the stadium. For everyone in operations who is going to assist with the DCI event, please be sure to volunteer for the event on the website so that we can keep a tally of the volunteers as well as sizing for the event t-shirt..

Special Events
Drums of Summer -
The Schedule went out a few days ago to those we had signed up. The volunteer meeting will be Monday at 7Pm in the band room so that we can go over the jobs and set up for the show/tear down. Look forward to seeing you all there!Pop up Tents- if you have a pop up tent we can use during the show please contact me. We’ll either need them on the field for shade or on the off chance we get rain that evening. Thanks! baspecialevents@gmail.com

ATTENTION PRIDE MEMBERS!

Mr. Davis and the staff want you to attend Drums of Summer, watch the corps and get excited for the coming season so we’re proud to announce Pride members will all receive a free General Admisson seat for the show July 21st. Pride members will need to show an ID (student or DL) at the ticket booth labeled “Pride” to have their name checked off and hand stamped for admission.

DCI Drum Corps competition will be hosted at BAHS on Tuesday, July 21st. Please help us promote this event by liking our drumsofsummer.com facebook page and getting the word out by sharing our social media posts via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Tickets are on sale now at DCI.org.

Ticket sales will start at 3 pm, gates open at 6 pm and the show starts at 7 pm.
