Directors Notes

What a great weekend we had for the BAI!

This past Saturday's Broken Arrow Invitational was huge success. The volunteer efforts of our parents and students are truly what made this event so successful. The overwhelming feedback that we have received from the competing band directors has shown their excitement for how professional the event is run and how kind and friendly our parent and student volunteers are to our visitors. That is FANTASTIC! Thank you to all that were involved in producing this first class event. A special note of thanks needs to be given to all for their tireless efforts to coordinate the 2016 BAI.

Section Gifts
As we approach our two big trips of the Pride season, I know many sections and their parents are already planning for special gifts for the member to help celebrate. We know that the Pride activity requires a significant commitment from members and their families. To help ensure that section gifts do not add to the financial burden, we ask that limit the cost of any section gifts for the entire season to $25 or less. (That limit can be over and above the cost of section shirts, if necessary). Concerning section shirts, we would like to remind all section leaders and their parents that all section shirts should be short-sleeved T's ONLY and all artwork must be approved by the directors in advance of any orders being placed.

OBA Finals Reserved Tickets
Ticket Requests may be placed beginning Tuesday for OBA Finals Tickets. The BA Band will be able to secure a limited number of tickets in the "BA Section”. Tickets are $15 each and will assigned on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may also be purchased at the stadium on contest day, but can't be guaranteed to be placed in the "BA Section." Place ticket orders with Mrs. Good at the HS Band Office. Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest).

Indoor Percussion Informational Meeting
It’s time to start the journey to Dayton and the WGI World Championships! There will be an info meeting for all students and parents interested in 2017 Broken Arrow Indoor Percussion on Monday, October 24 from 6:30-7:30 in the Band Hall. All members of the Pride are eligible for membership in the Drumline, Front Ensemble and (new for this year) the Visual Ensemble. The Visual Ensemble will consist of approx 14-15 students, in which all members of Pride (color guard, winds and perc) are eligible for membership. Info about auditions, rehearsal and performance schedule, trips to the Dallas Regional and World Championships in Dayton as well as a sneak peak to the 2017 program and show title will be addressed at this meeting.

FUNCTIONS
HELP NEEDED!!! We have over half of the color guard and many band uniforms that need alterations this week BEFORE we depart for St Louis Friday. We will be sewing, ripping, ironing, checking EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK!! You don’t have to tell us you are coming - just show up for whatever amount of time you can! LAST push before contest - PLEASE HELP US OUT!!!!

St. Louis Trip: Parents, please remember that this trip is a school activity. Once you drop your student off for rehearsal on Friday the activity has begun. Chaperones attend to help the students stay on schedule so that they can perform to their fullest capacity. No student is to leave with a parent at anytime during the trip. If you need to get something to your student you should have a chance to see them for a brief period in the Edward Jones Dome on Saturday when the students go to watch and get souvenirs. You may also meet them in the lobby of the hotel only, but the student must inform their chaperone. No one, other than students and their chaperones, are allowed on hotel floors.

Student Travel & Medications: Students with prescription medication must turn them in to Ms. Good in the band office prior to our St. Louis trip. Only provide the exact amount needed for the trip, in its original prescription container, with name and dosage information included.  All medications were due Friday.  If you still have medication to turn in, make sure Ms. Good has this by the end of the day Tuesday, October 18!!

ATTENTION SENIORS!! Pictures were due Friday.  If you still need to turn in your one baby picture and 5 other band related pictures, we will accept them through tomorrow 10/17.
