Next Band Parent Meeting - October 10
The next meeting of the Broken Arrow Band Parents Association will be at 7:00pm on October 10 in the BAHS Band Hall.


Section Gifts
As we approach our two big trips of the Pride season, many sections and their parents are already planning for special gifts for the member to help celebrate. We know that the Pride activity requires a significant commitment from members and their families. To help ensure that section gifts do not add to the financial burden, we ask that limit the cost of any section gifts for the entire season to $25 or less. (That limit can be over and above the cost of section shirts, if necessary). Concerning section shirts, we would like to remind all section leaders and their parents that all section shirts should be short-sleeved T's ONLY and all artwork must be approved b the directors in advance of any orders being placed.


Pride of Broken Arrow "Letter Policy"
To be eligible for a letter with the Pride of Broken Arrow, a student must complete the following criteria:

1) Be selected by directors to participate in the Pride; and
2) Compete in a contest with the Pride, either by participating on field or by traveling with the band as a shadow, crew member or alternate (a shadow being defined as a student who may travel to a competition as a substitute but may not take part in an on-field performance at each event).

In addition, Pride directors may, at their discretion, choose to award a letter to a student who is named to the Pride but is unable to participate in competitions because of various circumstances. Students who meet these criteria will be provided a letter after the first competition in which they participate or after the directors award them a letter. Until such time, a Pride jacket may be worn without a letter.


Upcoming HS Wind Band Concert - October 16
The wind bands at BAHS will present their first band concert of the school year on Monday, October 16. This concert is free to the public at will be held at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00pm.


All State / All District Band Audition Entry
This week we will be signing up students that will audition for the All District and All State Bands. Entry fee is $25 per student and will be collected by Dr. Pence in the band office. Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band 1 students are required to participate based on the course syllabus requirements. The first round audition for All State is on Saturday, November 4 at BAHS. All other High School band students are encouraged to audition. Note: Freshman students don’t enter until November at the Freshman Academy.


OBA Finals Reserved Tickets
Ticket Requests may be placed beginning Tuesday for OBA Finals Tickets. The BA Band will be able to secure a limited number of tickets in the "BA Section”. Tickets are $10 each and will assigned on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may also be purchased at the stadium on contest day, but can't be guaranteed to be placed in the "BA Section." Place ticket orders with Mrs. Good at the HS Band Office. Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest).

Combined Pride & Tradition Rehearsal (9/26)
The Pride and Tradition will hold their combined rehearsal to learn the PreGame show on Tuesday, September 26 from 6:00-8:30 at BA’s Memorial Stadium. This will set up the Pride and Tradition to perform the PreGame show at the final 3 Varsity Home Games on Sept 29 (Jenks), Oct 13 (Edmond SF) and Oct 19 (Norman). NOTE: The October 19 does occur during the Thursday of Fall Break and is a required performance for ALL Tradition and Pride members!


Pride Account Payments Payment Schedule
NOTE:  Upon completion of our travel expenses from Bands of America for the 2017 season, the all inclusive Pride fee for 2017 must be raised by $50.  It is important that all Student accounts are current to remain in good standing. At this point all members should have either paid or fundraised at total of $1350 toward their accounts. With a remaining balance of $1000. The 2017 Color Guard additional fee is $300. Please check the status of your student account and make sure you are up to date with your account payments.

Band Finance Office - Charms
Charms accounts are ready for all Pride members. Login is "brokenarrowband" and your password is your student's ID# (unless you have already changed it). Payments can be made via PayPal through Charms, PayPal charges a small service fee. Cash and Check payments can be made to the Fine Arts Finance Office during regular business hours, mailed to the school, or dropped into the payment box in the hallway near the orchestra room. Please BE SURE to note where you want your payment applied. Please take the time to update your personal information where it is lacking. This will keep us in touch with you. For more information on using Charms, see the attached sheet.

FUNCTIONS
Button Pictures will be taken Friday, 29 September before the Jenks game. Saturday, 30 September will be for those pictures we didn’t get taken on Friday and for friend/sibling pictures. More details to come.

Tradition Washer Parents Needed. We still need approximately 40 more washer parents for just tradition uniforms. These will only be laundered 3 or 4 times total. Pride parents can wash tradition uniforms. Please send an email to bauniform@gmail.com if you can help with this.

Junior and Sophomore Parents. There will be a meeting to discuss senior night plans in the band room at 7:15 p.m. on September 28th. We will be finished in time to watch rehearsal.

Seniors

Senior night is Thursday, October 19th. Please submit one baby picture and up to 5 other pictures, preferably digitally, to bafunctions@gmail.com no later than October 1. If you must submit hard copies, please make sure your name is on the picture and they are in an envelope marked “Senior night”. Please place them in the payment box or give them to Ms. Good in the band office.

WE NEED YOU! We’re less than a month away and we still need volunteers for BAI & OBA. BAI is on Saturday, October 7th and OBA is Saturday, October 28th. Volunteer Grants: Did you know that some companies pay volunteer grants for their employees who volunteer hours for organizations. Is your company one of those? Do you work for Walmart, DirecTV, IBM or State Farm? Those are 4 companies of the many who offer volunteer grants. Check with your HR department! This is a great opportunity that allows your hard work to benefit BA Bands! Most of these grants are around $500. Turn your volunteer hours into money!

CHECK YOUR JUNK MAIL FOR BA BANDS E-MAILS! Please check your Spam or Junk mail folder for emails from any BA Bands email addresses. These include but are not limited to: BAConcessions@gmail.com; bapridework@hotmail.com; BABandFundraising@gmail.com;; BASpecialEvents@gmail.com; and BAStadiumCleanup@gmail.com.

If you see any of these emails in your Junk or Spam folder, add the email address for those emails to your contact list. That should ensure you receive future emails correctly. If you wish to be removed from any of these mailing lists, send a message to the appropriate address and ask to be removed.

DINE OUT NIGHT AT ZAXBY’S ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 19!
Plan to dine out on September 19th at Zaxby's at 6995 Mingo Rd, Tulsa from 5-8PM. A portion of the proceeds will go to the band program. No flyer required. Be sure and tell them you are with the Pride of BA and all of our receipts will go into a box. Hope to see you there.


MARK YOUR CALENDARS! OCTOBER DINE OUT NIGHT - PANDA EXPRESS ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24 at 1314 E. Hillside Dr from 3-10PM. 20% of sales will go to band program. THE ROSE DISTRICT'S "GIVE BACK THURSDAY" FUNDRAISER FOR BA BANDS ON SEPTEMBER 21!
Join the Rose District merchants in supporting Broken Arrow Bands by shopping and dining in the Rose District all day on Thursday, September 21! All participating merchants will donate a % of their sales that day directly to the BA Bands. You will also receive a raffle ticket for every $10 you spend to be entered to win some awesome Rose District prizes! There will be a drawing at 6 pm and 7:45 pm and you must be present to win! Shop local, help the band, and have a chance to win prizes. (And tell all of your friends and family to shop in the Rose District on 9/21....it's a great opportunity to visit the stores and support our great Rose District!!) MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! FOR ROSE DISTRICT FUNDRAISER THIS THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 21! THIS WILL BE FUN! We need volunteers to help with raffle tickets and to help with Pride info tables in the Rose District on September 21. We will need volunteers at 3PM to help set up. If you can only make it from 4-8PM (or just a portion of that time), we can still use your help. This is a great show of support from the Rose District and they will donate a percentage of proceeds all day (from participating merchants) We’d love to support them back with lots of volunteers!! If you can volunteer any of the time from 3-8PM, please let Sheri Sharp know at babandfundraising@gmail.com ASAP. Thank you!!


AMISH BAKERY FUNDRAISER - Our September fundraiser is Amish Bakery. Order forms can be picked up in the band office. Form is also posted in Broken Arrow Band Members and Supporters Facebook group. CLICK HERE Orders are due on Tuesday, September 26. Remember, you can turn in orders at any time up to and on that date to Mrs. Good in the band office or in the payment locker outside the orchestra room. Turn in ONLY the one page order sheet (that summarizes all of your orders on one page) with your order summary! Keep the master order sheets (your actual order forms with customer orders on them) with you. Products for Amish Bakery should be in by the end of October. Please watch eNews and the fundraising email for date and time of pickup.


BEEF JERKY STICKS - Jerky sticks are available by pre-order and pre-purchase through the band only; the turnaround time to get them is quick - usually about a week once we place an order (orders will be placed at the beginning of each month; the next order will be placed after the October band parent meeting). We can also email you an order form if you need one or CLICK HERE to print one. Please contact Debbie at BABandFundraising@gmail.com with questions. This is the ONLY fundraiser we offer that you will pay ONLY the cost upfront, not the profit as well, due to the cost of the sticks. You will still be responsible for turning the profit into the band office for this fundraiser.


CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - We are out of the $1 variety box of bars. We have everything else available still for purchase. The opportunity to purchase chocolate will be at the October band parent meeting. There may be an additional opportunity before then, but a date has not been set yet. IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING FUNDRAISERS!!! - You MUST include your contact information (email address and phone number) on ALL fundraiser order forms before turning them in (even if the form doesn't ask for that info). Also, you need to let us know if you are fundraising for Pride or for Europe; if it is not specified, we will put the funds towards Pride.

Earn Money For Your Band Trip Account - For up-to-date information on work opportunities, CLICK HERE to sign up to receive Pride Work emails. All signs-ups are on a first come basis and everyone on the email list receives the opportunities at the same time. ***If you are having trouble getting spots, one way to make sure you can make the email a priority is to set up your phone or device with a special tone so that you know when the emails from bapridework arrive. PRIDE JACKETS - Pride jackets may be ordered directly at Yvonne's Monograms & Embroidery! The Pride Store does not take these orders. You can stop by (with your student) any time to get a fitting and order your Pride Jacket! Remember this is the only jacket that may be worn with the Pride uniform.
*The order date has passed to guarantee you will receive your jacket before OBA State Championship in October, but you can still place your orders at Yvonne’s.
* If you want the jacket before Christmas, order by October 31.
*Pride Jackets are $235.27 and require a $50 deposit when ordering. Balance is due when jacket is picked up.
*The price includes the jacket with graduation year on sleeve, BA Pride logo on back, student name and instrument embroidered on right chest, and a "letter" sewn on after your student receives it from their Director.

These pictures can now be purchased online only. We will no longer have the photos at the Pride Store. Ordering online is easy and you can see ALL of the photos you wish to see.
