Teacher Walkout and BA Fine Arts Activities / Rehearsals
With the upcoming potential teacher walkout interrupting classes, there are many questions as to how that will effect band and fine arts events and rehearsals. The short answer is that regardless of the walkout, band activities and rehearsals will continue. There will inevitably be adjustments and changes to events and rehearsals; however, please DON’T make assumptions about changes without confirmation from the Band Office. All changes to band activities, events and rehearsals will be made via the official Broken Arrow Bands social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, or Remind101). We will share any adjustments or changes as soon as they have been confirmed. Additionally, with OSSAA State Band Contest approaching, it is likely that the concert band classes will have additional rehearsals to continue our student musicians in their preparation for the OSSAA State Band Contest. Each band director will directly share any additional rehearsal plans with students in their classes this week.

FUNCTIONS

Call for volunteers.

Tuesday, April 10th we need chaperones for 6 of our ensembles that will be travelling to Owasso for OSSAA contest (HS Symphonic 1&2, HS Concert 1&2, Freshman Academy Wind Ensemble & Symphonic band). This means we need 12 adult volunteers. A sign-up will be posted on the band parent facebook page this week. Please consider helping with this event.

Banquet Table Reservations will begin at 8 p.m. April 11 and continue until 8 p.m. April 24. All reservations will be accepted using this link: BA Pride Banquet Table Reservations. This link will be posted on our BA Bands’ social media accounts before April 11. You must purchase or pick up your banquet ticket from Mrs. Good BEFORE making a reservation.

You may also bookmark the link on your phone, tablet or computer so that is easily accessed once it goes live on April 11. Each table sits up to 10 people. You do not have to have a party of 10 to make a reservation. Parties smaller than 10 will be grouped with other smaller parties so that each table has 10 people. Each reservation submission is automatically timestamped and table availability will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Table numbers will be emailed on or before April 26.

To make a reservation you will need the following information:

  • Email address and phone number of 1 person in the party as a designated contact person.
  • Ticket number and name for each person in your party, and whether or not they are a Pride member.
  • Any dietary needs for each member of your party.
Please be sure to double check all information before submitting your reservation. Information cannot be edited once it is submitted. Any changes must be submitted on a new form and will change your timestamp, forfeiting your original place in the reservation queue.

Volunteer Grants: Did you know that some companies pay volunteer grants for their employees who volunteer hours for organizations. Is your company one of those? Do you work for Walmart, DirecTV, IBM or State Farm? Those are 4 companies of the many who offer volunteer grants. Check with your HR department! This is a great opportunity that allows your hard work to benefit BA Bands! Most of these grants are around $500. Turn your volunteer hours into money!

FUNDRAISING
Sheri Sharp - BABandFundraising@gmail.com

A BIG THANK YOU! Thanks to everyone who helped to make the Garage Sale fundraiser a smooth and successful event! From the hard-working volunteers, to those who donated, to those who attended, and those who supported our efforts in other ways, you are so appreciated. Many thanks!

NOTE TO MEMBERS ABOUT THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT FUNDRAISERS - At the garage sale, I was asked more than once, who can do these fundraisers and how soon can they start. Individual account fundraisers such as the ones below are offered year round for all Pride members (color guard and hornline), whether new (for example the 8th grade girls who recently made color guard) or old (returning veterans from last season), and also whether they are fundraising for Pride only or Indoor Percussion only. Go ahead and start fundraising!

DISCOUNT CARDS NOW AVAILABLE!!! - Those who have seen them LOVE them! They will be available the night of the April 10 band parent meeting. To get discount cards before then, you need to contact Debbie Gowriluk at BABandFundraising@gmail.com to arrange a pickup time. This is the only fundraiser we offer that you do not pay for upfront. You can check out up to 5 cards at one time. Once those cards are sold, you can check out more cards at the same time you turn in the money for the sold cards to Debbie.

RADA CUTLERY - SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST KNIVES, but the best knives you’ll ever own!!! -
This fundraiser ends Tuesday, April 10 (all orders due the night of the band parent meeting). The catalog includes cutlery and utensils, seasonings, marinades, cookbooks, journals, calendars, coloring books, kitchen aids, dips, cheeseballs, soups, and cheesecakes. Catalogs are available by contacting Debbie Gowriluk at BABandFundraising@gmail.com to arrange a time to pick one up from her. The catalog and order form has also been uploaded to the files of the Broken Arrow Bands Members and Supporters Facebook Group.

CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - More chocolate has been ordered! It should hopefully be here for our band parent meeting on April 10. Also, important to remember - if you turn in money from selling chocolate, please mark it as a band payment so that it gets posted to Charms that way; you will have already paid the profit upfront. CLICK HERE for the chocolate fundraiser guidelines. Chocolate will be available for sale at the April band parent meeting.

::::::: PLEASE READ ::::::: - You MUST include your contact information (email address and phone number) on ALL fundraiser order forms before turning them in (even if the form doesn't ask for that info). Also, if you are not receiving our fundraising emails already and you participate in fundraising at all, you need to be added to that email list because that is the best way to receive current news about fundraisers; please ask to be added to that email list if you are not already on it.

Earn Money For Your Band Trip Account - If you would like to work certain events (like Drillers, Expo, etc) and earn money for your band trip account throughout the year, please CLICK HERE to sign up to receive Pride Work emails.
