-Directors Notes-

The Broken Arrow Invitational is NEXT Week!
Join us for the Broken Arrow Marching Band Invitational at Tiger Field on October 6. Witness some of the nation's finest marching band programs as bands representing Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Missouri compete in the 2018 BAI. The Pride of Broken Arrow will perform in exhibition following the finals competition at 10:00pm. We hope to see you next Saturday! There are still several open positions to fill for the BAI - - Please help the BA Bands and volunteer!

Next Band Parent Meeting - October 9
The next meeting of the Broken Arrow Band Parents Association will be at 7:00pm on October 9 in the BAHS Band Hall.

Section Gifts
As we approach our two big trips of the Pride season, many sections and their parents are already planning for special gifts for the members to help celebrate. We know that the Pride activity requires a significant commitment from members and their families. To help ensure that section gifts do not add to the financial burden, we ask that limit the cost of any section gifts for the entire season to $25 or less. (That limit can be over and above the cost of section shirts, if necessary). Concerning section shirts, we would like to remind all section leaders and their parents that all section shirts should be short-sleeved T's ONLY and all artwork must be approved by the directors in advance of any orders being placed.

Pride of Broken Arrow "Letter Policy":
To be eligible for a letter with the Pride of Broken Arrow, a student must complete the following criteria:

1) Be selected by directors to participate in the Pride; and
2) Compete in a contest with the Pride, either by participating on field or by traveling with the band as a shadow, crew member or alternate (a shadow being defined as a student who may travel to a competition as a substitute but may not take part in an on-field performance at each event).

In addition, Pride directors may, at their discretion, choose to award a letter to a student who is named to the Pride but is unable to participate in competitions because of various circumstances. Students who meet these criteria will be provided a letter certificate after the first competition in which they participate or after the directors award them a letter. Until such time, a Pride jacket may be worn without a letter.

Upcoming HS Wind Band Concert - October 15
The Wind bands at BAHS will present their first band concert of the school year on Monday, October 15.  This concert is free to the public and will be held at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00pm.

OBA Finals Reserved Tickets
Ticket Requests may be placed in the HS Band Office with Mrs. Good for OBA Finals Tickets. The BA Band will be able to secure a limited number of tickets in the "BA Section”. Tickets are $15 each and will assigned on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may also be purchased at the stadium on contest day, but can't be guaranteed to be placed in the "BA Section." Place ticket orders with Mrs. Good at the HS Band Office. Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest). Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest).

Combined Pride & Tradition Rehearsal (9/17)
The Pride and Tradition will hold their combined rehearsal to learn the PreGame show on Monday, September 17 from 6:00-8:30 at BA’s Memorial Stadium (if rain, we will meet in the adjacent Indoor Turf Facility). NOTE: The Nov1 does occur on a Thursday and is a required performance for ALL Tradition and Pride members!

-BA Bands Parent Association-

PRESIDENTS
PARENT CONNECTION AND SUPPORT INFO

From Monica Dooley: New parents! I promised you a mentor at the start of the season and I have yet to assign you one. Apart from texting or emailing me personally, which I have been happy to accommodate so far, my goal with this parent support/mentor group was to have relationships occur in a more organic way than for me to assign people to one another. With that said, the section parents have set up a get together outside the gate at the next open rehearsal for all of your section to meet and greet and discover that you are not alone in this overwhelming and exciting trek we call being a pride parent! Please come about 30 minutes earlier than the usual on the next open rehearsal date and look for your section sign. Go, chat, discover, enjoy! Also, use my email address at brokenarrowpridementors@gmail.com for any questions concerning a mentor. I hope to see y'all next open!
