Upcoming HS Wind Band Concert - October 15
The Wind bands at BAHS will present their first band concert of the school year on Monday, October 15.  This concert is free to the public and will be held at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00pm.


OBA Contest on Saturday (10/20) - Schedule
NOTE: The Band will provide lunch AND dinner for Pride members
7:30am - All Pride members arrive at BAHS (students may park in the B Lot - NW Parking lot)
               All Pride Change into Uniform and prep for Prelims performance
8:30am - Meet in BAHS Band Hall w/ all equipment and in Full Uniform
9:25am - Blocked up in Loading Dock Road
9:40am - OBA Contest Warm Up - Area A
10:45am - OBA Prelim Performance of “THE United States of America”
11:15am - Transition to Band Hall and change out of uniform (hang up in Uniform Room)

OSSAA Regional Marching Contest in Tahlequah Next Week - Wednesday (10/24)
The Pride will compete in the OSSAA Regional Marching Contest nest Wednesday (10/24). This is a free contest to attend and is held at the NSU - Tahlequah Stadium. Pride members will be dismissed from classes (but must make up any work missed) for the entire day on Wednesday, October 24. The following is an outline itinerary for that event.

NOTE: The Band will provide the lunch for Pride members
7:30am - Report to BAHS Stadium
7:45am - Pride Rehearsal at BAHS Stadium
9:30am - Load equipment, Eat Lunch, Change into Bottom 1/2 of Uniform, Load buses
11:00am - Depart BAHS for Tahlequah
12:30pm - Arrive at Tahlequah, Unload, Assemble equipment and props, Full Uniform, limited time to go watch a couple bands
2:00pm - OSSAA Contest Warm up
3:15pm - OSSAA Contest Performance
3:30pm - Load equipment etc…
4:30pm - Approx Departure time from Tahlequah
6:00pm - Approx Arrival time in Broken Arrow, Unload equipment, Change out of Uniform



Bands of America Super Regional NEXT WEEK!
This is an exciting time in the Pride’s preparations! The St Louis Super Regional Championship will be here next week! I know that the Pride members have been looking forward to this week for a long time to perform in one of the nation's most premier acoustical environments for a dome stadium. It is always amazing to see the number of BA parents, alumni and fans that will make their way to the Dome at America’s Center to see and hear some of the finest bands in the nation. There will be MANY bands from our area and state competing at the BOA Super Regional and I know that all Broken Arrow supporters will show their generosity and enthusiasm toward our band friends from Oklahoma!

St. Louis trip Itinerary information for NEXT Week's Trip
Some itinerary notes:

  • Report time at BAHS on Friday morning (10/26) is 6:00am - with a departure time of 7:00am.
  • Broken Arrow’s preliminary performance time is Saturday at 3:15pm
  • The finals competition begins at 7:15pm
  • The Pride will depart St. Louis on Sunday morning and arrive in Broken Arrow at approximately 5:30pm
  • The band Hotel in St. Louis is the Holiday Inn - Downtown Convention Center. 811 N 9th St, St Louis, MO 63101. (314) 421-4000

BOA St. Louis Super Regional LIVE Webcast
LIVE STREAM on FloMarching.com This year, all Bands of America Championships, including this one, will be Live Streamed. Music for All recently announced its new partnership and the launch of FloMarching, a new site dedicated to covering the world of competitive marching bands and the marching arts. If you have band parents, alumni, administrators, and supporters who cannot come to the event, the live stream offers a way they can watch your and all of the performances, for this and all Bands of America Championships. Log in your medications for the St. Louis trip
Medications must be logged in the BAHS Fine Arts Office no later than next Tuesday (10/23) at 4:00pm. Send ONLY the amount of medication needed for the trip in the original prescription packaging/bottles as per school district policy. For any questions regarding trip medications please contact Mrs. Good, lsgood@baschools.org.


Next SPECIAL Band Parent Meeting - October 30
The next meeting of the Broken Arrow Band Parents Association will be at 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 30 in the BAHS Band Hall. NOTE: This is a special Band Parent Meeting to discuss preparations and details for the Send Off Dress Rehearsal and the Indianapolis trip to BOA Grand Nationals.



OBA Finals Reserved Tickets
Ticket Requests may be placed in the HS Band Office with Mrs. Good for OBA Finals Tickets. The BA Band will be able to secure a limited number of tickets in the "BA Section”. Tickets are $15 each and will assigned on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may also be purchased at the stadium on contest day, but can't be guaranteed to be placed in the "BA Section." Place ticket orders with Mrs. Good at the HS Band Office. Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest). Tickets will be available for pick up on Thursday and Friday in the Band Office OR at the end of Pride Rehearsal on Thursday evening.  Any tickets not picked up in the Band Office will be Available in the "Will Call" on event day. 


Pride Account Payments
It is important that all Student accounts are current to remain in good standing. At this point all members should have either paid or fundraised at total of $1800 toward their accounts. With a remaining balance of $650. The Color Guard additional fee is $200. Please check the status of your student account and make sure you are up to date with your account payments.  Pride members will be allowed to sign up for their reserved seat on the charter buses, provided their accounts are paid.

Tradition of Broken Arrow
The Tradition of Broken Arrow is comprised of all Freshman and Sophomore band members AND the Pride of Broken Arrow members. The following is a list of upcoming dates and performances for the Tradition of Broken Arrow.

Closed and Open Rehearsals
As always, our Pride rehearsals are closed to the public. However, in these beginning stages of learning the show, we will open rehearsal to family and friends periodically.

2019 Broken Arrow Indoor Percussion Information
There will be an informational meeting for all students and parents interested in 2018 Broken Arrow Indoor Percussion on Monday, October 22nd from 6:30-7:00 PM in the Band Hall. All members of the Pride are eligible for membership in the Drumline, Front Ensemble and the Visual Ensemble. Information about auditions, rehearsal, performance, and tentative trip schedule as well as additional info for the upcoming Indoor Percussion Season.

FUNCTIONS


Thank you to everyone that rallied to sew, rip, and iron! You are amazing.we completed all hemming of pants. Watch for remind notifications this week for other itmes needing to be completed this week before OBA.

Junior/Sophomore Parents. Please meet in the practice room on the west side of the auditorium of the BAPAC immediately following the concert Monday night to discuss details of the senior reception.

We still need donations for OBA volunteer room. Sign-up at this LINK. All food donations should be brought to the north end visitor locker room under the stadium.

SENIORS. Senior night will be Thursday, November 1st. Parents will meet in the fine arts gallery to pin a corsage/bout on their student. A photographer will be present for photos. The senior reception will be held at the BAPAC following Sounds of the Stadium on Tuesday, November 13th. Please submit 1 baby picture and 4 other band related photos of your student to bafunctions@gmail.com by November 1st. Please put your students name in the subject line of the email.

St Louis reminders:

  • All prescription medications must be turned into Ms. Good in the Fine Arts Office no later than October 23rd as noted above.
  • Students should bring a full water jug with them when we depart Friday, October 26th for St. Louis since we will be stopping to rehearse.
  • Students only need money for souvenirs. Everything else (all meals and snacks) are covered by their Pride fees. Parents may see their student briefly Saturday morning in the dome when we are there to watch and buy souvenirs. If you need to reach your student at other times to get them something, please do this via bafunctions@gmail.com. NO parents are allowed in students rooms at any time and students are not to leave with a parent during any point in the trip without specific permission from a director.
  • Hornline and percussion will need an extra white uniform tshirt for the trip - these can be purchased from the uniform room only. Only 1 extra shirt can be purchased due to quantity, for a total of 2 shirts per student. Students should also bring extra socks and sliders.
  • Colorguard will not need extra shirts, but will likely need a spare pair of tights. It is recommended that you order online, as many stores in town are sold out.




SPECIAL EVENTS

  • OK Bandmasters Association Competition- Saturday, October 20, 2018

    If you haven't done so yet, please consider serving during OBA this coming Saturday.  If you have worked at a band contest before, let us know if you prefer the same job again, or you would prefer to try something else.  This is a great way to connect with oter bad parents and be involved in something important to your student.

    We will have a brief meeting this Thursday, October 18th, at 7pm.  Everyone should be assigned to a role by that time.  We will send out the list later in the week.

CONCESSIONS

The next concession event will be for OBA!!


OCTOBER 20th is OBA - We need 35-70 people, volunteers for concessions the option will be to sign up for shift work.  (we close down for BA's performance)  CLICK HERE

We will be stocking concession on Thursday evening to get ready for OBA!

November 1st will be the last scheduled football game of the season. This is senior night. We are asking for underclassmen parents to volunteer for this game,please.

November 9th is a scheduled Playoff game hosted at Memorial stadium. This is the same time the Pride will be in Indy for Nationals. Please consider signing up to volunteer in concessions if you will be in town this night. Thank You!

Concession profits support allof the BA Band programs from 6th grade to 12th grade. To be able to keep the BA Band program a success we need you!!

CHRISTMAS WREATHS FUNDRAISER - This fundraiser includes wreaths, sprays, table top centerpieces, and garland. In addition, your customers can purchase holiday gifts that can be sent directly from the company to others. Because of the timing necessary to place this order, absolutely no late orders can be accepted after October 23, so plan accordingly and be sure to get your orders in before practice ends that day.  Extra packets have been put on the table in the high school band office reception area. The information has also been uploaded to the Broken Arrow Bands Members and Family Facebook Group. There is a video in the comments of that file explaining how the Holiday Gifts (shipped orders) portion of this fundraiser works. Remember, orders MUST be turned in no later than the end of practice on Tuesday, October 23.


AMISH BAKERY FUNDRAISER UPDATE - This fundraiser will be delivered to us this week, but the exact time is still unknown. Pickup should be on Thursday during the hours the Pride Store is open, but this will be dependent upon the actual time of delivery to us. If you placed an order, watch your email and the Broken Arrow Bands Members and Family Facebook Group for an announcement of exactly when and where pickup will be.


CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - We are in the process of ordering more chocolate and hope to have it within the week.  Stay tuned to emails and Facebook for announcements of when it will be available for purchase again.  Note: Chocolate is ONLY sold during scheduled fundraiser pickup dates/times and band parent meetings.  Cash/checks for payment only please. Important to remember - if you turn in money from selling chocolate, please mark it as a band payment so that it gets posted to Charms that way; you will have already paid the profit upfront. PRIDE STORE WILL BE OPEN AT OBA ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20 - The Pride Store will be open at OBA this Saturday. We will have all of our usual items and will also bring along the BAI shirts and patches for those who were not able to get them because of the rain at BAI.We will be open when the gates open and close before the Pride of BA performs in finals. We will also be closed temporarily during BA’s preliminary performance.We hope you stop by!
