  • - It is a very demanding time of year. The kids and staff are working very hard to achieve excellence. As parents, we can help in many ways. One important example is to arrive on time to pick up the kids. Kids and staff will appreciate your timeliness.
  • - All rehearsals are closed until notice is made for open rehearsals for the end of a stadium rehearsal session.

Sophomores and Tiger Camp / Schedule Pick up
All Pride Sophomores that would like to attend Tiger Camp may attend on Tuesday, August 6 from (9:00 - 2:00). Pride rehearsal will begin at 2:30pm that day and all members must be ‘on-time’. As the school finalizes their schedule pick up requirements, they are great about working any needed alternative schedule pick up times to help coordinate with the Pride Camp Schedule. More info to come…

Broken Arrow High School is a Closed Campus
As a reminder, BAHS is a closed campus. That would prevent students from leaving the campus during meal breaks. Members should plan accordingly to either bring their meal OR make arrangements to have their meals delivered to them at BAHS. However, during rehearsals that are “split” in the day, guard and percussion members are ENCOURAGED to leave the HS campus during the ‘middle of the day’ to rest.

Closed and Open Rehearsals
As always, our Pride rehearsals are closed to the public. However, in these beginning stages of learning the show, we will open rehearsal to family and friends periodically. We will do our best to share info when we will be able to allow family to attend the end of a stadium rehearsal via BA Bands Social Media and via Cut Time.

Financial Obligations
The third payment of $500 is due by the end of July. Payments may be made (Cash, Check, or Credit Card) in person or MAILED to BAHS (1901 E Albany, BA OK 74012). Checks should be payable to “BA BBC.” Summer office hours are Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:00. Online payment info will be available in the coming days. Check a future eNews and Cut Time for detailed info to make online payments. As mentioned in the previous heading for Cut Time, all financial obligation and details will be communicated directly to our parents and guardians vis Cut Time. Have you logged in to create your Cut Time Profile? If not, follow the info and links in the Cut Time heading of this eNews.  It is important to "link" parent login info in Cut Time to an actie BA Band Student.  Those account activations are approved and vetted BA Band Office.  All Pride students are already enrolled in Cut Time, however they need to login and complete any blank information.  Students will login at www.cuttime.net

PRESIDENTS

Thank you Volunteers!
Now that the season has begun, we have had many people pitch in to help with events (Car Show, DCI, Car Wash), uniform fitting and alterations, prop- building, popsicle hand- outs and more. This organization couldn’t function without the commitment of so many wonderful people. Keep in mind, any little bit of help makes a difference. Don’t hesitate to show up even if it’s just for a short while. The 30 minutes you spend ripping seams is 30 minutes someone else doesn’t need to do. Showing up at the end of an activity to help put away tables and chairs, etc. is a relief for those who may have worked several hours.. Every little thing matters! If you don’t know where to plug in, ask a mentor, board member, or a veteran parent in your student’s section for suggestions.

Currently, Cut Time does not have a way for volunteers to enter hours directly into the system. We hope this is corrected by the end of August. If it is not, we will have an alternate solution in place. In the meantime, please keep track of the dates and hours served. Thank you very much for all that you do!

CUT TIME UPDATE
We have heard that many parents are frustrated with attempts to set up accounts in Cut Time. However, we had only about 8 parents stop by for help with Cut Time on Friday. A few more have reached out via email and are now up and running. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance if you are having difficulty. We can help only if we know there is an issue. Setting up a system like Cut Time is a huge undertaking. It impacts every aspect of the band program, not just Pride Parents. For example, it will help to manage music libraries, schedule band-related events and activities, archive and share important documents, manage uniform inventories and facilitate student communication. It is a complex system with many details and not a lot of in-house expertise yet. However, the end product will help our organization to run more smoothly in every aspect. We ask for your patience as we learn how to maximize this wonderful new technology.

  • 1) 95% of students are now set up correctly. . Most band-related communication will be sent to students via Cut Time once school starts. We have helped dozens of students either during the tech support time offered on Friday or after practice Friday and Saturday. Please make sure they have logged in and have the correct email address in the system. Also, they should enter their cell phone number and mobile provider info if they want to receive text messages as well as email.
  • 2) The biggest problem with the student accounts was this: In the old system, many student records had only the parent email listed. When the data was migrated to Cut Time from Charms, the student accounts were automatically created and the notice went to the email in the system. Therefore, many parents received the email and set up the student account as their own. We have updated the student accounts with the student emails and reset the passwords. This means the parents who were inadvertently using their student’s account as their own will find they can no longer log in. Those parents will need to create a parent account in Cut Time. If you want to confirm your parent account is set up correctly, log in and verify the screen says “Parent Portal” and there is a box that says “My child” or “My Children”.
If you need help, email lsgood@BAschools.org or BABandpresident@gmail.com.

Online forms are available and must be completed by your student and only one parent.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

FORE!!!
Now that we have your attention, we want to get the word out about one of our next events. We have our golf tournament fundraiser, The Pride of Broken Arrow Open, just around the corner on Thursday, September 12th. If you're a player and can put together a team, of course we want you to sign up and play, but if not, we could use your help spreading the word to get teams signed up and pick up some sponsors to make this event another success in BA Bands style.

We need your help spreading the word, and here are just some of the simple and easy ways you can do it:

  • Spread the word just by mentioning it to friends, family, and colleagues. Word-of-Mouth advertising speaks volumes. Send them the link to the Facebook event or website, or send them the flyer. Have family that plays? Tell them how it benefits your kids in BA Bands.
  • Under the Share function underneath the event's header on Facebook, you can simply Invite Friends or Share Post to a friend's or your timeline. Share, share, share! You do not have to be Facebook friends and can post the event to anyone's or any business's timelines for them to be in the know about the event.
  • Download and print the flyer to post at the office, friends and family, and anyone else you can think of.
  • Use your Twitter account to post about the event. Share the Facebook event or the website too!
