Another AMAZING Week of Pride Camp!
The 2019 Pride of Broken Arrow had another amazing week of rehearsals! The Pride is certainly off to a great start and the initial learning of the show is well underway. Parents may want to come to the stadium at the end of our evening rehearsal on THURSDAY to see and hear the progress the Pride has already made. The stadium will be open to family members during the final 30 minutes of rehearsal on THURSDAY this week (no photos or videos please).


Closed and Open Rehearsals
As always, our Pride rehearsals are closed to the public. However, in these beginning stages of learning the show, we will open rehearsal to family and friends periodically. The first open rehearsal will take place this week on THURSDAY (subject to change) during the final 30 minutes of rehearsal.

Pep Band Performance THIS MONDAY MORNING (8/12)
All VETERAN Pride Horn line and Percussion will perform a brief pep rally at COM (Central on Main) for all new teachers to BA Schools. Wear your black Pride T shirt. Report to COM by 8:15am and the performance will be finished by approximately 9:00am. The Band Hall will be open by 7:30 to pick up any equipment needed.


MORE Pep Band Performances THIS FRIDAY(8/16)
On Friday, All Veteran Pride Horn line and Percussion will perform for the BA Teachers’ Back to School Sessions AT THE BAPAC. Wear your black Pride T Shirt. Performance 1 will be from 8:15-9:15. Performance 2 will be from 12:15-1:15.


Dr. Tim Lautzenhaiser Leadership Workshop
Once again, Leadership expert, Dr. Tim will return to BA to conduct a regional leadership workshop for leaders across the region. All members of the Pride Leadership Team (to be announced this week) are required to attend. Due to popular demand, ANY Pride Member who wishes take part in this exceptional workshop is eligible to attend. The Workshop is this Friday from 3:30-7:30 at the BAHS Band Hall. Registration fees are $30.

The parent form should be completed by one and only (1) parent. The document includes emergency contacts, health information, Pride participation acknowledgements and agreements, etc. You do not need to print the documents unless you want a copy for own records.

  NOTES:
  • - Broken Arrow HS is a closed campus. Members may not leave the campus during a meal break.
  • - Students and parents may not park in Loading Dock lanes for Faculty Parking lots (ie. lot west of the aux gym)
  • - NO Drop offs are permitted in the Loading Dock Lanes to the west of the Band Hall OR in the Faculty parking lot west of the Band Hall
  • - It is a very demanding time of year. The kids and staff are working very hard to achieve excellence. As parents, we can help in many ways. One important example is to arrive on time to pick up the kids. Kids and staff will appreciate your timeliness.
  • - All rehearsals are closed until notice is made for open rehearsals for the end of a stadium rehearsal session.
  • - Members should bring: sunscreen, hat, food for meal break, iced water jug, and all items needed for rehearsal

Schedule Pick up (Passport to Success)
The following are available times for students to pick up their schedules and coordinate with the mandatory Pride Camp:

Freshmen
  • - Monday: Horn line 9:00am and completed by the time rehearsal begins at 1:00
  • - Tuesday: Guard & Percussion after morning rehearsal (1:00-5:00) and completed by the time your evening rehearsal begins
Seniors
  • - Tuesday: Horn Line 9:00am and completed by the time rehearsal begins at 1:00
  • - Tuesday: Guard & Percussion from 1:00-4:00
Juniors
  • - Wednesday: All Juniors during meal break from 12:00-2:00 (must be completed by 2:00; or you may pick up on Thursday)
Sophomores
  • - Thursday: Horn Line 9:00am and completed by the time rehearsal begins at 1:00
  • - Thursday: Guard & Percussion from 1:00-4:00



Financial Obligations
The third payment of $500 is due by the end of July is PAST DUE. Payments may be made (Cash, Check, or Credit Card) in person or MAILED to BAHS (1901 E Albany, BA OK 74012). Checks should be payable to “BA BBC.” Summer office hours are Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:00. Online payment info will be available in the coming days. Check a future eNews and Cut Time for detailed info to make online payments. As mentioned in the previous heading for Cut Time, all financial obligation and details will be communicated directly to our parents and guardians vis Cut Time. Have you logged in to create your Cut Time Profile? If not, follow the info and links in the Cut Time heading of this eNews.  It is important to "link" parent login info in Cut Time to an actie BA Band Student.  Those account activations are approved and vetted BA Band Office.  All Pride students are already enrolled in Cut Time, however they need to login and complete any blank information.  Students will login at www.cuttime.net


Attendance Communication - Attendance@BrokenArrowPride.com
All members must communicate all Pride absences by emailing attendance@BrokenArrowPride.com Please remember that ALL rehearsal and performances are mandatory beginning July 25. All mini camp and rehearsal sessions prior to July 23 will allow absences based on vacation or attendance to a ‘camp’ (music camp, church camp, etc), however, ALL absences must be communicated in advance. NOTE: The Color Guard Dance Project and Performances are posted.


Pride Physicals PAST DUE
All Pride members must have a new physical on file for the 2019 season. You may choose the physician of your choice BUT MUST SUBMIT THE ATTACHED 2 PAGE OSSAA FORM. ALL physical forms must be submitted to the Mrs. Good in the band office no later than July 25.


Next BA Band Booster Club Meeting August 13
Our next Booster Club meeting will be on Tuesday, August 13 in the High School Band Hall at 7:00pm.

Thank you Volunteers!
From the popsicle brigade to the prop building MACHINE of ops “dads”, our incredible group of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles was hard at work all this week. Tradition uniform alterations are complete and ready for our season debut. Many thanks to those who contributed in some way!

We would love to have some help reaching out to middle school band parents. This group could make a big difference filling spots at football concessions and lightening the load at our major events. If any of you have ideas on how to engage middle school parents and get them involved early, please email BABandPresident@gmail.com.


CUT TIME UPDATE
We will be available beginning at 6pm on Tuesday before the band parent meeting to help anyone who is still having trouble creating an account and getting logged into the system. Let us know if you aren’t able to make that time, and still need assistance.

Many have asked about water jugs and koozies. All veteran Pride and Tradition members were issued a jug and koozie last year. This year, only NEW members will receive a new jug and koozie. If you are a member that has a lost or damaged set, you can replace the jug yourself with any ½ gallon water jug, preferably black. If you need a new replacement koozie, they will be available for sale after the ones for the new members are distributed.


SPECIAL EVENTS

Golf tournament will be on September 12th at Noon. We need 20 team of four to sign up. Please look at putting a team together or telling your friends and family.

Now that we have your attention, we want to get the word out about one of our next events. We have our golf tournament fundraiser, The Pride of Broken Arrow Open, just around the corner on Thursday, September 12th. If you're a player and can put together a team, of course we want you to sign up and play, but if not, we could use your help spreading the word to get teams signed up and pick up some sponsors to make this event another success in BA Bands style.

We need your help spreading the word, and here are just some of the simple and easy ways you can do it:

  • Spread the word just by mentioning it to friends, family, and colleagues. Word-of-Mouth advertising speaks volumes. Send them the link to the Facebook event or website, or send them the flyer. Have family that plays? Tell them how it benefits your kids in BA Bands.
  • Under the Share function underneath the event's header on Facebook, you can simply Invite Friends or Share Post to a friend's or your timeline. Share, share, share! You do not have to be Facebook friends and can post the event to anyone's or any business's timelines for them to be in the know about the event.
  • Download and print the flyer to post at the office, friends and family, and anyone else you can think of.
  • Use your Twitter account to post about the event. Share the Facebook event or the website too!

CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - We will have chocolate available this week!  Keep an eye out on the Facebook group for a pickup time this week!  Chocolate will be available for purchase at the Tuesday band parent meeting at 6:00pM before the meeting and again after the meeting ends.  Remember, it is $60 per box paid upfront, with half of that going into your child's account.  Cash/checks for payment only please. Important to remember - if you turn in money from selling chocolate, please mark it as a band payment so that it gets posted correctly; you will have already paid the profit upfront. Pride Store Online


Our next Pride Store is before and after the BABBC Parent Meeting on Tues, August 13th. You can shop and look through our merchandise. If you don’t have time to browse, you can place an order online by Monday night and pick it up on Tues. That is only for instock items. Pre-orders that haven’t closed yet will not be in until Sept. Pride Family shirts won’t be back until the end of August. We did not meet the minimum orders for the Dad and Papa shirts so we will only have the Dad one and it will be in very limited quantities. If you ordered a Papa shirt, I’ll be sending a refund via the store.

We have almost sold out of our extra joggers and sweatshirts. If you are wanting those, don’t wait until the parent meeting on Tuesday. Buy them now at goba.band/store and they will be ready for you to pick up at the meeting. If you purchased joggers and they have a printing error, please bring them on Tues and they will be fixed.

There are still backpacks and duffles available to purchase. There will be ONE chance to personalize them this season. The cost will be $5 and I will need to have them by September 1st. Pillow blankets can also be personalized. If you have Pride duffles or backpacks from previous seasons, those can be personalized too! Bring them to the meeting or get them to me by Sept. 1st. Personalization can be purchased at the Pride Store on Tues or online until Sept 1st. There is not a mail in option for these.

To have personalized koozies and jugs back by the first game, I need to have the order submitted this week! Bring your koozies to the parent meeting! If you are a new Pride member, pay for the decals now on the online store (under 2019 Personalized Decals) and they will be personalized when they are handed out at the game. Koozie decals must be applied by our vendor so don’t forget to bring yours. There is not a paper form for the koozie and jug decals yet so please order them online.

Buttons - all group buttons will need to be paid for in advance. Members are welcome to take group pictures but they will not be printed or made into a button unless they were paid for in advance via a form or online. When ordering a group photo, please include all of the names since there are sometimes multiple group shots.

August 13th is the last day that you can pre-order show items using a paper form in the Pride Store. You can still mail in a paper form or drop it off with Lisa Good until the 1st of Sept. Better yet, order online up until midnight on Sept 1st!

Upcoming deadlines:

  • September 1st - GoBA shirts, show orders (dog and luggage tags, show buttons, show shirts) and soft-shell jackets
  • October 1st - ornaments
