-Directors Notes-

The Broken Arrow Invitational is THIS Week!
Join us for the Broken Arrow Marching Band Invitational at Tiger Field on October 5. Witness some of the nation's finest marching band programs as bands representing Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri compete in the 2019 BAI. The Pride of Broken Arrow will perform in exhibition following the finals competition at 10:00pm. We hope to see you next Saturday! There are still several open positions to fill for the BAI - - Please help the BA Bands and volunteer!  Most volunteer positions are filled for the BAI, however, please sign up if you could fill the remaining volunteer positions.

Arrow Vision Live Stream Football Games
As a note and reminder, the Broken Arrow Arrow Vision Live Stream broadcast of BA Tiger Football is unable to show band performances without being subject to additional copyright licensing, broadcast fees and legal permissions from the copyright holders / publishing companies. As you may be aware, Arrow Vision offers a terrific live web broadcast of BA Tiger Football at no charge. Arrow Vision does a great job promoting the Broken Arrow Bands and Pride of Broken Arrow with their various feature stories throughout the school year. Thank you Arrow Vision for all you do for the BA Bands!

Pride Account Payments
It is important that all Student accounts are current to remain in good standing. At this point all members should have either paid or fundraised at total of $2400 toward their accounts. The Color Guard additional fee is $200. Please check the status of your student account and make sure you are up to date with your account payments.

Next Band Parent Meeting - MONDAY, October 7
The next meeting of the Broken Arrow Band Parents Association will be at 7:00pm on October 7 in the BAHS Band Hall.

OBA Finals Reserved Tickets
Ticket Requests may be placed in the HS Band Office with Mrs. Good for OBA Finals Tickets. The BA Band will be able to secure a limited number of tickets in the "BA Section”. Tickets are $20 each and will assigned on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may also be purchased at the stadium on contest day, but can't be guaranteed to be placed in the "BA Section." Place ticket orders with Mrs. Good at the HS Band Office. Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest). Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest). The 6A OBA Championship is at Owasso HS on Saturday, November 2.

Combined Pride & Tradition Rehearsal (10-1)
The Pride and Tradition will hold their combined rehearsal to learn the PreGame show on Tuedsay, October 1 from 6:00-8:30 at BA’s Memorial Stadium (if rain, we will meet in the adjacent Indoor Turf Facility). This will set up the Pride and Tradition to perform the PreGame show at the final 4 Varsity Home Games on Oct 4 (Norman), Oct 17 (Edmond SF), October 25 (Yukon) and Nov 1 (Edmond Mem). NOTE: The Oct 17 game does occur on a Thursday (during Fall Break) and is a required performance for ALL Tradition and Pride members!

Section Gifts
As we approach our two big trips of the Pride season, many sections and their parents are already planning for special gifts for the members to help celebrate. We know that the Pride activity requires a significant commitment from members and their families. To help ensure that section gifts do not add to the financial burden, we ask that limit the cost of any section gifts for the entire season to $25 or less. (That limit can be over and above the cost of section shirts, if necessary). Concerning section shirts, we would like to remind all section leaders and their parents that all section shirts should be short-sleeved T's ONLY and all artwork must be approved by the directors in advance of any orders being placed.

Pride of Broken Arrow "Letter Policy"
To be eligible for a letter with the Pride of Broken Arrow, a student must complete the following criteria:
  • 1) Be selected by directors to participate in the Pride; and
  • 2) Compete in a contest with the Pride, either by participating on field or by traveling with the band as a shadow, crew member or alternate (a shadow being defined as a student who may travel to a competition as a substitute but may not take part in an on-field performance at each event).
In addition, Pride directors may, at their discretion, choose to award a letter to a student who is named to the Pride but is unable to participate in competitions because of various circumstances. Students who meet these criteria will be provided a letter certificate after the first competition in which they participate or after the directors award them a letter. Letter certificates will be presented to qualifying members in the weeks following their first contest (typically within 2 weeks). Until such time, a Pride jacket may be worn without a letter.

Closed and Open Rehearsals
As always, our Pride rehearsals are closed to the public. However, in these beginning stages of learning the show, we will open rehearsal to family and friends periodically. Make sure you have a completed registration for CutTime.  Future open rehearsal will be communicated via CutTime.

Copyright - Photos, Video, Audio Recordings are prohibited
The following is a copyright reminder to our family, friends and fans of the Pride of Broken Arrow. In order to protect the rights of the original composers and copyright owners who license their music to the Pride of Broken Arrow, Bands of America and Broken Arrow Public Schools strictly prohibit the use of audio and video recording technology - including mobile devices and live streaming applications - during and rehearsal or performance setting. We thank you for your cooperation and for complying with the law.

-BA Bands Parent Association-

PRESIDENTS

Thank you Volunteers!
The organization couldn’t be successful without the tremendous support of parents and other supporters. Reminder: Each parent is expected to work in concessions for at least one home football game. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do so today! It’s fun, and you can spend time getting to know other parents in the organization.

This is a very busy week. We need a lot of volunteers this week, particularly Friday and Saturday. Over those two days, we need more than 250 volunteers to make everything run smoothly. I hope we can count on every parent to choose a day, if not both days, to serve in order to make this weekend a huge success.

Hopefully everyone is getting excited about the show. The students are bringing it all together to make it another fantastic production. Hope to see you this weekend playing your part in the best band organization in the nation.

Thanks to all that have helped with uniforms, concessions, and operations. We are about to get into the meat of our schedule and a lot of things happening. Please remember we have several things we need to handle as volunteers and parents:

  • Accounts needed to be up to date for your kids to get bus assignments ect...
  • Volunteers for BAI and concessions we have several home games in October Sign up now for both.
  • Parent forms need to be completed
  • Need to have information in CUTTIME up to date that is our main communication mechanism.
  • Input volunteer hours in new volunteer form. Volunteer Time Form
Thanks for all that you do to help make this program be the best it can.

SPECIAL EVENTS

BAI -
BAI is here this weekend. We have spots for everyone, can’t stand for long periods? We have a spot for you. Want to see the Pride perform in full competition form? We have a spot for you and you won’t have to buy a ticket. Have another child with you? We have a spot for you both.

We will have schools from OK, AR, MO, and TX coming joining us on our campus and it is crucial that we provide a great level of service to be a first class organization. This is one of our largest events and contributes heavily to the band programs overall costs for this year and next. We still need 50-60 more volunteers to make sure we can deliver that first class service we are so well known for providing. Please sign up, reach out to friends, grand parents, aunts and uncles, and alumni and ask if they have signed up. Let’s show the visiting schools how much we love our kids and support them and this organization by being a friendly face and helpful guides as they join us Saturday.

We will have a volunteer meeting on Tuesday October 1st, 2019 at 6:30 pm at BAHS in the Band Hall. We will discuss positions and duties, as well as answer any questions.

PRIDE STORE
BABandStore@gmail.com
Pride Store Online

"Pride Store" is a bit of a misnomer. It isn't actually a store. We have a closet that everything is kept in and we set up before and after parent meetings wherever we find space. Just because something is paid for online instead of at the meetings, it doesn't mean it will be available at a time other than the parent meetings. There isn't a way for the online store to know that, so it might say something will be available in 2 days even if it won't. Please plan ahead, especially for volunteer shirts. We are NOT actually at the school for people to drop in and pick things up at will. In my opinion, every Pride Family should have a volunteer shirt. Get one at the next parent meeting and then volunteer to support our kids. THANKS

We could use some help distributing the free shirts and buttons to the kids on Friday after the game. Be one of the first to see the new show shirts!! Plus, the joy of seeing the kids' faces is a great bonus!

The only preorders we still have are decals (window, jug and koozie), embroidery patches, coasters, ornaments and street signs. Ornaments and streets signs are due at the October BABBC Parent Meeting, currently on the calendar as October 7th. We are on track to have show items available at that meeting so they can be taken to Orlando that weekend.  Unfortunately, GoBA shirts will not be available.

Upcoming deadlines:
October 7th - ornaments and street signs

SHOP ONLINE - goba.band/store
It’s easy to shop for Pride gear from home! There are even flat-rate shipping options available if you want to share it with out of town family! Please always include your student’s first and last name in all online orders. You can put their name either as the purchaser or in the notes section. Thank you!

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS SEASON'S PRIDE PHOTOS OF BAND CAMP, COMPETITIONS, REHEARSAL AND MORE? - These pictures can be purchased online only.  Ordering online is easy and you can see ALL of the photos you wish to see.   CLICK HERE to see the photos and purchase. All profits go to our band booster account!
